Board approves Page Mill Labs monument sign

The Architectural Review Board voted 5-0 to approve a master sign program for a new double-sided monument sign at 950 Page Mill Road. The sign will display Page Mill Labs property branding and include four interchangeable tenant identification panels.

Staff said the 25.5-square-foot sign complies with Research Park zoning, sign height and sight-distance requirements and falls below the 27-square-foot maximum sign area. A master sign program was required because Page Mill Labs is property branding rather than the name of a tenant.

Board members generally described the design as clean and straightforward but examined the reflectivity of its silver metallic material, panel alignment, drainage, sealing and address-number treatment. Members also discussed the lettering colors, while staff said tenant names and logos would be restricted to the specified Deep River Satin and black palette. One member asked to see a larger silver material sample on site.

The program is intended to allow future tenant-panel changes to proceed directly to building-permit review. Building and Fire officials will review applicable address-number standards during that stage.

Two-story golf clubhouse application is submitted

Staff reported a newly submitted site design review application involving partial demolition and construction of a new two-story clubhouse at the Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club, 3000 Alexis Drive. The report was informational, and the board took no action on the proposal.
