Board recommends approval of Victoria’s Secret storefront

The Architectural Review Board voted 4-0 to recommend approval of storefront and signage changes for a Victoria’s Secret relocation within Stanford Shopping Center. The proposal for 180 El Camino Real now goes to the director of Planning and Development Services for a decision.

Victoria’s Secret plans to move from Building CC, Space 1220, to Building C, Space 16B, currently occupied by Peloton. The project would refinish the facade, repaint and reuse the existing glazing mullions, entry doors and illuminated portal frame, and add two signs: an illuminated edge-lit wall sign and a non-illuminated blade sign. Staff said a proposed light box would display a static, non-flashing image rather than a digital display.

Board members praised the proposal’s simple design, material choices and reuse of existing storefront elements. Vice Chair Kendra Rosenberg questioned applying a new finish over existing tile but supported the approach after hearing that removing the tile could compromise waterproofing. Board member David Hirsch asked that construction leave the facade smooth and clean.
