The Public Art Commission discussed potential sponsors and live performances for Code:ART 2025 but took no formal action. Projection mapping was planned for 10 nights, with Code:ART operating from 5 to 10 p.m.

Potential programming included vertical dance at City Hall, a silent disco, local DJs, drumming, robotics and Stanford-affiliated groups. Estimates discussed ranged from about $3,000 for a silent disco with three DJs and 100 headset sets to between $30,000 and $60,000 for Bandaloop Vertical Dancers. Commissioners also considered scheduling performances immediately before projections at King Plaza.

Possible sponsor recognition included branding on projector-box vinyls, promotional materials and projected countdown screens. Staff anticipated circulating a sponsorship outreach document the following week and asked commissioners to provide sponsor contacts and information about prospective performers without making commitments. Staff said coordinating outreach would help prevent duplicate contacts and overcommitments. The Code:ART website was already live with festival information, featured artists and installation descriptions.

Commission accepts Nina K. Ekman artwork donation

The commission voted 7-0 to accept an artwork by Nina K. Ekman into the City collection. The 47-by-31-inch work was valued at $2,100, and staff described it as representative of the artist's time at Cubberley.

Staff said works from the City collection rotate among facilities such as libraries, community centers and offices and are also available online. Most of the collection is installed, with a small amount stored in the Art Center basement.
