  1. May 8, 2025 residency update

    The current residency focused on the LGBTQ+ community in Palo Alto. Staff described a planned sculpture for King Plaza, an associated exhibition at Rinconada Library, and a potential Pride-related opening celebration. A subsequent artist-in-residence had been approved to focus on the immigrant community.

  2. January 31, 2025: next residency approved

    The approved $50,000 allocation consists of $20,000 for research and community engagement, $10,000 for creative community-outreach materials, and $20,000 for temporary-artwork design and fabrication. Staff will develop the contract, schedule, and residency details.

  3. January 16, 2025 presentation and concept update

    The artist presented research and community-engagement findings and described a preliminary temporary installation concept: a retrofitted pay phone playing collected oral histories within a reflective, cocoon-like structure. Staff said it was working with the artist and potential fabricators and would return with a developed design for Commission approval.
