Roth Building Fresco Phase II Restoration Project
A phased restoration of the Roth Building frescoes, including the Phase II restoration of eight grisaille panels and sepia medallions.

- The upper color panels and gray panel above the entrance were restored; treatment planning remains for the compromised lower grisaille panels.

June 18, 2026: Grant awarded for phase two restoration
Staff reported that the project received a Santa Clara County grant and that work will take place in 2027.

The Commission authorized staff to submit a County of Santa Clara Historic Heritage grant application for the estimated $235,000 Phase II restoration. If awarded, the work is expected in 2027.

Staff reported completion of conservation work on the four upper color frescoes and the gray fresco above the entrance, along with testing and partial cleaning of the lower grisaille panels. Further treatment and interpretation of the lower panels remains under development.
